Robert "Bob" Shimp, Jr., 78, of Montoursville, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence.
Born November 17, 1947, in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Robert, Sr. and Kathleen (Seigfried) Shimp.
Bob graduated from the Penn Manor High School and continued his education at Millersville University where he obtained a bachelor's degree. While in college, he was a member of the Tennis Team, which they had great success during their seasons. Following college Bob was enlisted into the United States Army where he served his country Honorably.
Outside of work Bob had many interests such as playing cards, travelling or driving, and spending time with his family. His greatest joy in life was being able to get out on the water fishing or in the woods waiting patiently for wildlife to show up.
He is survived by a son, Robert Shimp, III, of Montoursville; a daughter, Meredith (Robert) Ober, of Manheim; a granddaughter, Sophia Shimp; a brother, David Shimp; a sister, Sharell Pavlatos; and two nieces, Angela Wilheim and Jennifer Shufflebottom. Bob followed many sports throughout life. He watched many tennis matches, the Eagles football team, Penn State sports, and attended many Montoursville football games.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Shimp.
In keeping with Bob's wishes, services will be held privately.
