We share chamber chief’s optimism as Digger breaks ground in township
Ground was broken recently at a Timber Run Industrial site along Route 15 in Brady Township for a new company that plans to bring 150 jobs to Lycoming County.
Digger Specialties is an Indiana-based manufacturer of aluminum and vinyl coating products.
It chose Lycoming County to open a facility because of its rural location and “good workforce,” according to Loren “Digger” Graber, CEO and founder.
With construction of a 160,000-square-foot facility to begin by the end of next month, local officials hope to bring additional companies to the site.
Jason Fink, president of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, has been working to attract interest to that site for some time. Before the pandemic, Fink and the chamber had begun hosting site consultant familiarization tours in conjunction with the state Department of Community and Economic Development. The site was one of the properties featured.
The tours have focused not only on the needs of entities looking for business locations but also on what Lycoming County has to offer, including strong schools, high quality of life and a reliable workforce.
While Digger did not find its way here as a direct result of one of these tours, which are planned around Little League World Series time, Fink credits another relationship with a broker that was part of a familiarization tour a few years ago for connecting with Digger.
It’s all about building relationships and making connections, Fink told the Sun-Gazette.
To that end, we share his hope — and optimism — that Digger’s digging into the Brady Township property will be the start of a full park in the future.
Today we congratulate the chamber for this success story and we extend to Digger Specialties a warm welcome to Lycoming County.
