We want to join Pennsylvania College of Technology in thanking High Steel Structures.
The fabricator of steel for bridge and other projects has donated about $100,000 worth of scrap metal to the school's welding program. The donation will help Penn College's students hone their skills in an important field, while also re-using leftover metal rather than allowing it to be discarded or otherwise wasted.
While the report in the education section of Thursday's Sun-Gazette noted the donation is High Steel's largest to date, it is not their first donation.
Elizabeth A. Biddle, Penn College's director of corporate relations, is right when she says High Steel Structures "continues to be a valued supporter of Penn College welding."
The region is fortunate to have both Penn College, which offers educations in a variety of critical fields, and High Steel Structures, which in addition to its support of Penn College creates family-sustaining jobs at its Williamsport plant. Both make life in Lycoming County better.
