Lycoming County should celebrate the arrival soon of an Amazon distribution center in Clinton Township.

The facility, as reported in Thursday’s edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, will employ at least 100 people.

We hope they are able to find workers, as we hope all the employers who contribute or will in the future contribute to our communities are able to fill their vacancies.

The importance of jobs to our economy and to a future in which Lycoming County and its families are successful and prosperous cannot be overstated.

Clearly, challenges remain. Our employers — existing and future — are confronted by labor shortages and difficulty finding workers. Our families and businesses are confronted by inflation. Our leadership nationally and internationally often is too negligent of our potential for energy independence. Our liberties and our safety is too often at risk.

But these challenges should not deter us from appreciating the opportunities for success we also enjoy. So lets take a moment and be thankful for the abundance of jobs with which our region and country are blessed.
