Blues festival continues to offer region excellent experiences

2 min read

Blues musicians will be coming from across the United States to Hughesville this summer.

The 33rd annual Billtown Blues Festival, now held at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds, has established a history of pleasing crowds with excellent lineups of performers. From the information the festival's organizers shared with the Williamsport Sun-Gazette for its Monday edition, this summer's festival appears to continue that tradition.

While many of the performers are new to the Billtown Blues Festival, some of the musicians, like local legend Miz Ida, Laurie Morvan of Los Angeles, JP Soars of Florida and Anson Funderburgh of Dallas have played the festival before.

It speaks exceedingly highly of the festival and its organizers that so many talented musicians want to return.

In fact, it seems, from what the organizers told the Sun-Gazette, that the Billtown Blues Festival should have something for everyone. "Tough, original blues and hard-hitting live shows." traditional blues with a heavy dose of distinguished West Coast swing. "Stellar vocals and blistering guitar." Traditional blues piano and unique vocals -- the range and variety to be offered look promising.

We are grateful for the hard work and efforts of the volunteers who organize the Billtown Blues Festival. We are glad its fans continue to have the opportunity to enjoy excellent music and we hope potential newcomers will consider attending. Information on tickets is available at billtownblues.org.

Our region is blessed by many organization's tireless efforts to offer a rich and diverse music scene. The 33rd year for the Billtown Blues Festival is an important part of such blessings, and we are confident it will share many more great shows this summer in Hughesville.
