The enthusiasts the Sun-Gazette reported on four years ago were praising the Radical Ride, a fundraiser, and Lifland Skatepark, the park south of Fourth Street near Memorial Park that the Radical Ride benefits.

It is a testament to community engagement -- an important park that diversifies the options Williamsport's residents and truly people throughout the region have for recreation, built by the initiative of grassroots support. Lonnie Wilcox, who also organizes the ride, was at the forefront of ensuring that Williamsport would have a skatepark.
We hope more people throughout our region can learn a lesson from the years of work Wilcox and other volunteers have undertaken: Don't wait for someone else to act. Get involved, make our communities better places to live and to raise families.
Wilcox and those volunteers got involved. And Lifland Skatepark has made Williamsport a better place to live and to raise a family.
