Williamsport and surrounding communities need to address urban blight -- the number of properties, often industrial, that sit vacant and deteriorating, eyesores that drag on the property values of hard-working neighbors.
One regional bank, Susquehanna Community Bank, is working with the developers and investors at the forefront of returning properties at risk of such a fate to more vibrant futures.
In this past weekend's edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, Susquehanna Community Bank and the Pajama Factory announced a financial partnership to help the arts community at the Pajama Factory -- already a success story -- continue its growth and its enriching contribution to Williamsport.
"We are proud to invest in community building projects," Michael Loeh, Susquehanna Community Bank vice president said.
We are -- and believe every member of our communities should be -- thankful for their investment and for their pride in community. It is a truly laudable trait and an asset that will help Williamsport and Lycoming County continue to meet the type of challenges befalling communities throughout our nation head on.
