State Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburn Township, is joining the board for the 9/11 Memorial Coalition.
"I am deeply honored that the 9/11 Memorial Coalition voted me in to join their board of directors," Hamm said, according to an article in the Feb. 5 edition of the Sun-Gazette. "It is important to me that we remember and honor the victims, first responders and military men and women who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and during America's response to it. Our brave heroes will never be forgotten, and I am humbled to help honor that legacy here in Lycoming County.
We are confident our state representative will offer valuable insights and contributions to the work of the 9/11 Memorial Coation.
Hamm already demonstrated his crucial support for the memorial ride with his leadership in navigating and correcting the permitting processes for the rides to continue.
"Joe Hamm got up and basically hit one out of the park," Thomas "Tank" Baird, one of the co-organizers of the Ride, told the Sun-Gazette in June of 2021 when discussing Hamm's efforts to save the annual ride.
As we editorialized in November of 2022, his leadership on this issue was "a blessing for our communities, and an example of his tirelessness in confronting the frustrating constraints of bureaucracy."
We believe he has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to remembering the tragedies of Sept. 11 and how we overcame that day together as a nation. We believe he will bring that tirelessness of leadership to further help the 9/11 Memorial Coalition and 9/11 Memorial Ride as it continues to grow.
