Congratulations, first and foremost, go to Brandt and Conner Harer of Montgomery Area High School, Luke Simcox of Central Mountain High School and all the other wrestlers from Lycoming, Clinton and Tioga counties who competed for state championships in Hershey last weekend.
"We've dreamed of this since we were five to seven years old," Conner Harer told Sun-Gazette reporter Henry Huber.
We're sure they did more than dream of it -- excellence in wrestling, as in any sport or extracurricular endeavor requires more than dreaming.
It requires hard work. Patience. A willingness to dedicate time and effort to the pursuit of this championship.
That hard work, patience and dedication are worth celebrating -- in the Montgomery Area School District and throughout the schools of our county and our neighboring region.
It's worth celebrating in sports, in band and music programs, in academic competitions and vocational programs like 4H and Future Farmers of America.
We hope our communities' teenagers and other youngsters can continue to excel. We know that if they exhibit the same dedication and commitment to hard work that the Harer brothers did, they can have every opportunity to achieve great things, no matter where their interests lie.
