It is a 90th birthday truly worth celebrating.
The American Rescue Workers, a church and service organization, is celebrating nine decades in Williamsport.
The mission of the American Rescue Workers goes beyond worship and praise for Jesus Christ -- their understanding of His message has been a blessing to the neighborhoods of our city and the surrounding communities.
The church operates a shelter for men without housing and a food pantry program for families in need of meals. Their thrift stores help struggling people gain a foothold in the workforce and community, while raising money to support their initiatives.
"We don't turn anyone away," Jennifer Rempe, director of development and community engagement, told the Sun-Gazette. "I sat over here when I first started learning the operation and people from all walks of life, from college kids to senior citizens, came through."
We are proud of the successes of the American Rescue Workers, grateful for their volunteers' dedication to our communities and confident this church and organization will continue to represent Christ's message and love in its service to their brothers and sisters.
