The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future are often recalled this time of year -- today we reflect on the successes of past, present and future in our decidedly unghost-like and vibrantly alive arts scene.
We are proud of the accomplishments and successes of the St. John's School of the Arts -- most recently seen in its production of the Nutcracker ballet, featured on the front page of our Dec. 10 edition but in many other events and performances and classes as well. St. John's School of the Arts have, for many years, enriched the lives of our communities' youth by teaching them the joy and discipline that comes from the pursuit of artistic endeavors.
We are just as proud of the successes of the Billtown Blues Association and the blues community of our region, in how they have introduced new generations to a uniquely American genre of music with their festivals and concerts -- a practice that will continue with the annual New Year's Blues Bash at the Pajama Factory on Dec. 30, featured in today's Showcase inside your copy of the Sun-Gazette.
We are proud of the efforts and hard work of the people behind this school and these programs and groups and of many more -- the Repasz Band, the Uptown Music Collective, the Community Theatre League and many others, too many to list.
They all work tirelessly to make the lives of the people of our communities more fun, more eclectic and more enriching. We thank them for their efforts and we hope to celebrate years of successes well into the future.
