Reflect on those who help communities
While we are blessed that the majority of our neighbors are secure and comfortable, every community has families and men and women who struggle.
The work of volunteers to provide the assistance struggling people need is a vital part of our community — of how it meets these challenges and of its values and principles.
All of these organizations need our support so that they, in turn, can continue to help our communities.
The Sun-Gazette reported on one such organization, Sojourner Truth Ministries on High Street, in Tuesday’s edition and on upgrades the ministries’ facility will undergo.
“We are a small ministry, but for those who participate in it,” the Rev. Angelique Labadie-Cihanowyz, executive director of Sojourner Truth Ministries, said, “it is a really big deal.”
We are grateful leaders recognized the crucial role Sojourner Truth Ministries performs and line up the grant funding to assist with renovations.
We hope every one can reflect on the role they can fulfill to help all of the organizations like Sojourner Truth Ministries and can remember than Williamsport, Lycoming County and the surrounding communities are fortunate to have Sojourner Truth Ministries and all of the volunteers and faith-based organizations working to alleviate the problems of our world when they’re found here in our neighborhoods.
