Arts express communities’ values

2 min read

Williamsport, as reported in this past weekend's edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, recently unveiled a new work of art at 329 Pine St., Williamsport.

We hope residents and visitors alike can appreciate the hard work by the volunteers of Public ARTWORKS to bring so many art installations to our city -- and to so many different sites within our city.

Sculptures and murals abound throughout Williamsport due to their diligent efforts, which also are seeing a 20th anniversary this year.

We believe the art conveys to the public the values of our communities and neighborhoods -- the creativity, the passion to pursue a skill or talent and to put in the time and effort to improve those skills and talents. They inspire people of all ages to try new modes of expression and to possibly find a new passion for creating as well.

Beyond bringing something new or different or exciting to corners throughout our community, the art reflects our values and our sense that these neighborhoods and communities are more than places -- they are our homes.

We thank Public ARTWORKS and other community groups for their rich contributions to our communities and we look forward to seeing what the next two decades bring.
