I have been a Republican all my life, but this year I am voting for the Democratic candidate for President. I cannot bring myself to vote for Donald Trump again.
He has lied to the American people since his Inauguration Day when he claimed his crowd size was larger than Barack Obama's was. And he has continued to lie ever since, most notably about the pandemic. I found it appalling that he knew, as he told Bob Woodward on tape in February of this year, the awful truth above the pandemic. Yet, possessing that knowledge, he continued to lie about the situation. He has told so many other lies that I can't keep track of them.
Donald Trump is unable to have a cogent conversation about the issues facing our country today. He will not even discuss, rationally, racial justice or matters concerning climate change. He can't say the words "white supremacy."
I've often said that character matters when it comes to choosing our President. I have never felt more strongly about this than now. I may not believe everything about Joe Biden's politics, but I believe in the man. I believe he's a decent person who will place our country before his own politics.
I remember talking to a friend back in 2016. I asked him how he felt about Donald Trump. His reply was unequivocal. He had dealings with him when he was in the concrete business in New Jersey. He related that Trump didn't pay what he owed. He said that he'd never vote for him. My friend knew firsthand the kind of person Donald Trump was and he's no different now. The only difference now is that the stage is larger. It is our country that is suffering from his actions. He is an utter disgrace and embarrassment to what our country stood for over two centuries.
