Frustrated by the IRS

2 min read

I consider myself a law-abiding citizen. I pay my taxes and obey all the laws and rules that deal with the government. However, this tax season has given me cause for intense frustration with the Internal Revenue Service. Through a reputable accounting firm, I filed my taxes in February of this year. My accountant has informed me that I am entitled to a refund, but as of this date, I have not received anything from the IRS.

I have discussed this with my accountant. He has assured me that everything was properly filed at my end. The problem exists at the IRS end. He also suggested that I go to the IRS website. The message on the website was that my return is "still being processed."

I realize with the pandemic and "other problems" the IRS may be a little slow in their response. I have been told that if the situation were reversed, the IRS would DEMAND payment by THEIR deadline. If the deadline was not met, penalties would be applied.

I am not alone with this problem, my son is also waiting for his refund. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem/frustration?

Thank you for "listening."
