We are now living in a generation whose leaders grew up in an era where everyone plays and everyone gets a trophy. Instead of teaching our children responsibility and the value of hard work and team play, we taught them if it's too difficult to succeed, we'll change the rules so they can fit in.
Unfortunately, as our nation's leaders in politics, industry and education find themselves unable to succeed, they change the rules. Our politicians, unable to find solutions to problems with crime and violence, fall back on old faithful, racism. Our industry leaders when faced with the ever-increasing demands to be competitive, simply move their plants to other countries for cheaper labor instead of looking for solutions at home. Our educators, faced with an ever-increasing diversity in the classroom, have lowered standards or eliminated reward programs in an effort to treat each student equally, instead of developing methods to bring all the students up to higher standards.
It's really a shame to think that our country has gone from the greatest generation when 18-year-olds were taught to fight to defend this great country, to a generation when 18-year-olds are taught we can't have valedictorians because they might feel bad if they weren't chosen.
We remove the names of our holidays because some feel offended. You realize the only time people are offended by images are when they choose to be offended. When I see a menorah at Christmas I only see candles. I don't see a threat to any of my values.
When people laugh and make fun of my appearance (I had polio as a child) I don't get upset about it. If the worst thing that happens to you today is being made fun of by some non-caring obnoxious person, you're going to have a pretty good day.
