I was amused by a recent letter to the editor that supported mail-in voting ballots and obviously opposes valid voter ID before a vote is cast. How is valid voter ID confirmed by mass mailing to ALL people on the voter registration lists? All voter registration lists are woefully inaccurate. Many dead people and former residents, who moved away, are still listed and are mailed ballots. Who completes those ballots since there is no controlled delivery, ballots are delivered to the living and the dead just like "junk" mail! Who completes those ballots that cancel my vote?
I have no problem with voter ID. I show my ID to get a book out of my library, cash a check or buy a gun. The only problem with valid ID is the registered voters in the cemetery cannot go get a free voter ID, but many still vote via mail-in ballots.
I laugh when letter writers lament, "there is no voter fraud." Really? May I see their footnote that is not supported by my Google search of voter fraud? I would ask them to verify voter integrity when mail-in ballots could be stolen from mailboxes, completed by next of kin of the deceased, etc. I believe a valid voter ID system is a common sense response to override out-of-date voter registration lists. Let us only allow living voters to elect candidates.
