As I reflect on the last six presidents, I noticed that a disturbing pattern has developed.
First, Republican President George H. W. Bush tanks the economy with his "no new taxes" pledge, then Democratic President Bill Clinton comes along and balances the budget after eight years. Next Republican President George W. Bush is elected and he tanks the economy with the Iraq War and the housing crisis. Then Democrat Barack Obama comes along and has the economy humming along after his eight years. So then Republican Donald J. Trump is elected, and people are amazed how good the economy is doing. It only took him four years to tank the economy with his inept handling of the COVID-19 crisis. Next here come the Democrats again to clean up the Republican mess.
President Joseph R. Biden passes sweeping bipartisan and some non-bipartisan bills to get the economy humming along with low unemployment and a reduction in COVID-19 inflation. In my opinion anyone who complains about 3% inflation was not yet born in the 1970s and 1980s when inflation really was rampant.
So I ask my fellow voters if we are ready for another Republican president to tank the economy again? Personally, I will just thank God that we have had Democratic presidents to clean up the Republican messes, but I'm sure they feel like they are cleaning up after the elephant parade! Thank you Bill, Barack and Joe.
