A look back

Many of the following words and phrases are familiar to those who know American history, so I used them to remind others who may not know, or remember, of our history.

Twelve score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new nation conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal and endowed with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We are now engaged in a great cultural and political war testing whether that nation, or any nation, so conceived and dedicated can long endure.

If you do not agree with the fact we are at war, then open your mind and compare today with three years ago. COVID notwithstanding, the republic was booming and setting an example for other nations. Now, we have no law and order; open borders; a questionable government from the top down; an economy that has declined; and a dependence on other countries for the life supporting oil, which we were exporting and had a reserve. Now we import oil, and the reserves are being depleted.

Is this the republic founded in 1776 and survived a Civil War? Is this a better republic than three years ago? Are you and your families better off than three years ago? Three years ago, the man in charge was one of us, a private citizen, not a politician. He thought like us. He ran the country like a business. Because of those reasons, he was a target of the political establishment, which started on the day of his inauguration and continues today. One may not like his personality, his manner or his crudeness, but one has to give him credit for the GOOD he did for the Republic and its citizens. Then in 2020 the people had a choice: elect a politician or a citizen. They chose a politician, and here we are. Just a reminder, the better presidents of our republic were not true politicians. Lincoln, Truman, Eisenhower, Reagan. Just a thought
