In your recent editorial on the alleged safety of gas drilling misleading comments by Senator Gene Yaw, Linnea Lueken and Tim Benson were repeated as facts.
Yaw's quote: "Make no mistake. House Bill 170 is a ban on natural gas development in Pennsylvania. It is horrible legislation from an environmental, economic and property rights perspective," is intentionally exaggerated. The bill is designed to create a buffer zone around this industrial activity, not "kill it"! Perhaps his personal financial conflicts of interest are more important than the safety and security of his constituents?
Additionally, the "Center on Climate and Environmental Policy" is an industry friendly propaganda wing of the Heartland Institute which enjoys financial support from Fossil Fuel "Donations," (as do Yaw, and many of his colleagues)!
Their claims of "studies" sans citations and links are also designed to deceive.
Ask residents of Rifle Colo., Dimmock, Pa, and Moreland Twp. if there is no proof of water contamination!
Or perhaps research actual studies by Physicians for Social Responsibility that found irrefutable evidence that proximity to Gas Infrastructure creates increased risks of cancer, heart disease, asthma and complications with births.
The industry lobbyists and "generosity" with "campaign contributions" seem to have convinced the public servants to obstruct common sense regulatory responsibility.
The press also is responsible to provide accurate information, not pass on biased baloney to it's readers, such as: "The natural gas industry, as Hamm noted, creates hundreds of thousands of jobs in a state and offers the public affordable heating and energy. Its rise in Pennsylvania has been a blessing."
