I voted, volunteered and donated money to Democratic candidates since I was able to vote in 2004. I felt like personally the platform supported my ideals and interests and while not perfect I was under the impression they would "do the right thing." For the past month I've watched thousands upon thousands of Palestinians being murdered. Innocent men, women, children, babies, who by the way aren't Hamas members.
In my opinion, a genocide is occurring right before our eyes with our tax dollars and government fully supporting it. There has been to my knowledge less than 10 democratic politicians calling for a ceasefire. The Pope has been calling for a ceasefire but Biden and Pelosi, both practicing Catholics, reject his calls for an end to the madness.
Countries have the right to defend themselves, but they don't have the right to bomb hospitals full of victims, ambulances carrying the injured, Mosques and Christian churches -- those are WAR CRIMES. This administration has given billions to Ukraine to fight Russia and has talked extensively of the war crimes committed there yet nothing when it comes to Gaza. Nothing. Instead, the president goes before the public and LIES. His press secretary compares protesters who support the Palestinians to the racist Charlottesville mob who chanted "Jews will not replace us" while holding torches and ran over Heather Heyer, killing her, while she protested for racial justice. Biden claims those events are why he decided to run.
Well, Biden’s inability to be a leader and call for a ceasefire to end the indiscriminate killing is my reason for leaving the Democratic Party and refusing to vote for him. I can look at bills I wanted passed not passing because not enough votes or not having student loan forgiveness because the courts blocked it but I cannot and will not look at the faces of children who have lost their entire families, I cannot look at the brave men of Gaza desperately searching for survivors under the rubble, I cannot look at women holding their dead babies while weeping, I cannot look at the face of a dead infant and vote for this man who has the power to do something about this madness but refuses.
It is morally reprehensible and inexcusable.
