The state of Oregon recently suspended proficiency standards in English and math for high school graduates. These standards had been temporarily suspended because of COVID-19. But now Oregon claims that standards discriminate against "students of color." This means Oregon wants their children to graduate illiterate and innumerate, which they'll undoubtedly remain for the rest of their post-educational lives. Off course, they'll be wards of the state for a half a century, allowing Oregon to raise taxes and to employ more bureaucrats while blaming these citizens' educational deficiencies on white racism or whatever is the radicals' hate mantra of the day.
Perhaps next Oregon will suspend board certification tests for dentists and doctors. That's because such tests will discriminate against high school graduates who are illiterate. Then perhaps Oregon will hand out licenses for structural engineers who design bridges and buildings which won't collapse. Although that sounds absurd, the handing out high school diplomas to illiterate and innumerate students is to grant them citizen performance certificates for acts which they cannot perform – like being politically well informed about candidates and issues at election time.
The result of this sub-citizenization is the disastrous structural failure of the American polities, local, state and federal, much of which is now on view all across the nation every day. Just think of New York City and San Francisco. Fortunately Oregon can be sued for citizenship malpractice. The court for this issue is held in polling places state-wide. And guilty sentences result in the culprits being dismissed from their jobs with no appeal from the decision of the people. In republics where the informed people vote, elections have consequences.
