Regarding the list of top state parks in the Nov. 14 edition, you should remove Susquehanna State Park from that list because there is no access to the park beyond the boat launch.
DCNR gives the key to the gate to the Hiawatha organization. They decide when to close it which prevents fisherman, dog people, cross county skiers and walkers the use of the 1/4 mile tow path.
Last year someone got upset and pushed and bent that gate and it had to be replaced. So many people complain about it being closed. You won't see that problem at Riverfront Park near Montoursville.
No one ever disturbs the Hiawatha offices and there isn't reports of overnight camping or crime in that area.
Someone please tell the Hiawatha office that this is The People's State Park, not their property.
DCNR office is in the Sunbury area. That key should be cared for by the local fire department. They will decide when the road needs to be secured because of flooding, etc.
Open this gate. Let us use our park.
