Were the subject anyone other than Citizen Donald Trump, an observer might rightly think that given his recent tsunami of good fortune, (to include staying alive; the obscenity of the swaggeringly MAGA Supreme Court's ruling on immunity; and the kismet of his appointing Judge and Trump groupie Aileen Cannon to the federal bench), a sense of gratitude might overtake said individual. But when said subject is the former president, anyone naive enough to think that such transforming "good luck" would dull the compulsion for personal retribution, preposterous lying, everyday slander and general lowlife behavior would be … well, foolish.
A brief review of the last month of Trump's public behavior would be an appropriate way to determine what Trump 2.0 might be like. During that time, he has declared that his now-opponent "recently turned black" (before the National Association of Black Journalists, no less), and never passed her bar exam (despite having served as California's AG for seven years).
He has termed the release of four American hostages from Russia "just another win for Putin." With no evidence whatsoever, he has twice declared that under a Trump administration, "Ukraine would never have happened," and that he will have that conflict settled "within 24 hours, or maybe even before I become President." How? Never mind! That Trump, never one to tie himself down with detail or fact, still spouts such inane drivel seems testament to an unfathomable narcissism. Remember that wall Mexico was going to pay for? Or the "big, beautiful" healthcare plan to replace "evil" Obamacare?
Therefore, he disavows knowledge of, or support for, the infamous "Project 2025" plan to return America to an oligarchy with a Trumpster-filled, blindly-loyal bureaucracy: the fabled "Deep State" replaced with the Orange Cesspool of patronage jobs. Trump's disavowal is, of course, incredulous. With hefty contributions from 31 former Trump administration officials (among them, Dr. Ben Carson, Peter Navarro and Stephen Moore), his appointee's fingerprints are all over the 900-page tome. It is brimming with ideas and action plans whose sole purpose is to place the individual sitting behind the Resolute Desk in command of every policy, action, interpretation and nuance that guides this nation. It is the takeover plan he didn't have during Trump 1.0, and will serve as the definitive roadmap for MAGA drones gleefully transforming this nation into something it has resisted becoming for nearly 250 years -- an outlaw state, run by a literal outlaw.
When someone goes out of his way to show you who he is, you really should believe him! This version of Trump is different from the one we have come to know -- even more egomaniacal, even more vengeance-driven, and, if possible, even less encumbered by any sense of gravitas. If elected, Trump will again become one of the world's perils. Nothing has changed. Do we really want to revisit this monument to national political humiliation?
