Gaming today

1 min read

I'm writing to sound off that today's gaming world has been overtaken by platforms that rely on microtransactions. The most common form is mobile gaming, where excessive use of advertisement and encouragement to pay to succeed inside of the game. Additionally, some games lock most of their content behind a paywall, when said content isn't even worth paying for. The good side of the gaming world are games that revolve less around excessive advertisement and rely heavily on actually playing the game.

As an example, games such as ones in the Nintendo franchises use no form of advertisement and purely use quality content. Some examples of payment for additional content are still present in Nintendo, just in smaller amounts and the content that is paid for is actually worth money.

In conclusion, the majority of the gaming world is a fight between gaming companies who produce quality content and the majority who are just in it for instant profit. Do not waste money on the mobile games created by lone greedy developers with little originality.
