When the people who founded our nation wrote our constitution, they were concerned that at some time "Mob Rule" might promote a dictator to lead our country. To Safe Guard this from occurring , they decided the Presidency would be finally determined by an Electoral College, not by popular vote of the uneducated masses.
They assumed that each state would provide members of the Electoral College who would place the country FIRST, and not vote for a popular person unfit to serve. While each state provides members to serve in the electoral College and vote for a president, most states leave that vote up to the Elector.
Hopefully we will see that most of those who are in the Electoral College have a sense of Honor and will not vote for Trump.
