Truth matters

2 min read

Very soon reality may sink in for many voters as Trump's team talks about making cuts in Social Security and Medicare as well as eliminating Obamacare, affecting 50 million Americans, in order to give tax cuts to the wealthy. It should have been obvious as Trump surrounded himself with billionaires who are directing policy.

Despite Fox News being sued for $787.5 million by Dominion Voting Systems for saying the voting machines were bad, and Fox admitting they lied about a fraudulent election, people believed Trump when he said the election was stolen. He criticized our election system until he won, then it was fine. Didn't that raise a red flag? Trump also claimed to have the largest crowd at his inauguration when pictures clearly showed otherwise. Since 2016 Trump has said he's getting rid of Obamacare saying he has a better plan he will disclose soon. Eight years later there is no plan. Trump claimed crime was worse under Biden while statistics show crime was worse during his presidency. Trump said he knew nothing about Project 2025, but he is embracing it now that he won. Trump promised he would lower grocery prices during his campaign. Then in an interview recently with Time Magazine, he admitted he won't be able to lower prices.

Now instead of lowering prices, Trump talks about taking over the Panama Canal and Greenland, which as a dictator, he believes he can do. This is scary talk for it suggests he might start a war to grab other countries' land, just as Putin did in Ukraine. Trump lies about Chinese soldiers operating the Panama Canal, which he could use as a rationale to attack one of our allies. "All warfare depends upon deception." (Sun Tzu)

Lies can do much damage. As Timothy Snyder said, "Abandonment of truth is abandonment of freedom."
