As a member of Pennsylvania's 9th district, of which Representative Daniel Meuser presides over, I was underwhelmed by his virtual town hall (held on Wednesday, April 9).
This townhall was clearly perfunctory – something to check off Representative Meuser's list in order to save face with the public. The "townhall" that was put on could have been a powerpoint presentation. He was not there to have a conversation with his constituents, he was there to downplay and defend his actions (or even worse, his inactions). He was there to detract from the real concerns his constituents have. But yes, Representative Meuser, lets talk about how well Florida is doing and the benefits of Ireland's tax structure.
In short, he deflected, and then imparted the information he wanted us to know. And now he has two weeks off thanks to Congress' April recess.
So, Representative Daniel Meuser. I demand an in-person townhall, where you hear the people's concerns. You have two weeks where you will be in PA. You are our Representative, and we elected you to understand out concerns and represent them to the government. Don't ignore the people who put you in power.
