Manufactured mayhem

2 min read

Before Trump took office the economy was in decent shape. Shocking I know, but true. In typical Trump fashion, he whipped his supporters into a frenzy by insisting that the economy was disintegrating. And that got him elected.

Once elected, Trump declared another emergency, the size of the Federal Government. Once again, his supporters cheered him on. Using his "sky is falling" approach, Trump and Musk have succeeded in creating chaos on an unprecedented scale using DOGE as a smokescreen.

His next target was the trade imbalance issue. That imbalance has existed for decades and yet the US has done just fine over that time. Ever faithful, his followers swallowed his prophesies of doom and cheered him on. The result was the recent "Liberation Day".

And what is his plan? First, he will claim an exaggerated amount of money saved by DOGE. Then, he will claim an exaggerated amount of taxes (I mean tariffs) collected by the government. He will offer these two bogus claims as proof the country can afford a tax cut. And, just like 2017, this tax cut will benefit the well to do and businesses much more than the ordinary consumer.
