Think about this. Consider the trends. In the very vocal, very public maneuverings of our leadership, it is not too difficult to surmise a cultural, political, economic, even theological union with Putin's Russia; something akin to the Anglo-American global position and leadership in the Post World War II Era.
Why not? There is China to contend with. And Europe? Who cares about Europe? It all comes down to power, who owns the nukes, the oil, the coal, who best utilizes intimidation. These are Putin's gifts.
The Arctic is up for grabs, and so is Eastern Europe. Same with Africa. What Russia is doing in Ukraine, why not allow our military to do the same in Greenland or even Canada?
It seems the moral imperative that had defined US leadership in Twentieth Century has withered to nothing. At this point in history, power, or the perception of power rules the day, not unlike the Napoleonic Era of two centuries ago. Putin knows this, and Trump is following suit. That pesky ole United States Congress, and those ideologic stooges at the Supreme Court, with just a bit more demagoguery coming from the White House, they will all, in the end, gleefully comply.
Welcome my friends to our common Putrumpian future. And if this was the reason Trump demanded that we "fight, fight, fight," then, I think, it's time for us to reconsider who or what we are fighting for.
