America was founded on the simple principle that no one is privileged or worthy enough to become king. Yet here we are, sitting on our hands, watching our sacred republic crumble into a monarchy, compliments of Donald the First.

I hear people say, “That’s Trump being Trump” or “It’s God’s Will,” or “It’s only for four years, let Trump be Trump.”

But when George Washington stepped down as president, there was a precedent made regarding leadership, one of duty, service, humility, abiding by and upholding the law.

All these principles are being undone by the cunning and scruples of one man, and we are letting it happen. Consider the personal gift of a 400-million-dollar jet from Qatar’s royal family, Trump Family Cryptocurrencies, bypassing congress regarding federal cuts to the NIH and other key research institutions, catering to likeminded demagogues.

All this and a whole lot more reeks of monarchical rule and he’d probably agree!
