I just received a text picture of the demolished Plant#1 of Sprout-Waldron (S-W). I am saddened. Since 1867 this company meant so much to the employees, clients and the economy of the greater Williamsport area. The process equipment that S-W made was sold through out the modern world. Everyday that you live, you come in contact with a item that S-W equipment had a hand in manufacturing. S-W serviced the small entrepreneur and Fortune 500 companies with great pride and professionalism, all clients counted.
All of this could not have been accomplished without competent engineers and support people. Yes, Plant #2 still lives but the feeling of walking into the front door of Plant #1 is gone forever. They can take away the building but the memories will live on.
To my fellow S-W employees, thanks for the ride. It feels like someone cut off my left arm.
