A conversation
I had a nice conversation today with a zoomer (GenZ, 2001).
Me: “….yeah we baby boomers ‘messed’ things up. There’s a lot of people hurtin’, but I hope things get better.”
Him: “A lot of people got rich, but a lot of people didn’t, like me.”
Me: “You got to keep trying.”
Him: “You can’t give up.”
I wasn’t ready for that answer.
The baby boomers are fading out of the picture, even as we hold on to what we earned, or maybe not. Our generation created a huge transfer of wealth while pursuing “progress”, however each group defines it. It’s been more about personal progress. I am blessed with enough and went to college before it got expensive. It would be fair to say that our generation then made college get expensive. Think about that.
Wikipedia says: “Generation Z has been described as “better behaved and less hedonistic than previous generations.” Our generation will be out of power soon. I hope I live long enough to see what happens. Maybe I should join a spinning class…
