Behavior
In past years, Donald Trump railed against what he called the “weaponization” of the Justice Department. He claimed to be the victim of politically motivated investigations, warning that such misuse of federal power threatened the very foundation of our democracy. Now, in his second term, Trump has changed his views. He has fired career prosecutors who refused to pursue flimsy cases against his political adversaries. He has installed loyal sycophants to replace them, publicly demanded indictments, and declared that “justice must be served” against those who opposed him. Trump has ordered attorney general Bondi to prosecute his political enemies now saying, ‘We can’t delay any longer’. This is illustrative of trumps vindictive, narcissist and ego driven conduct. It is unbecoming of an American president to exhibit this behavior.
The Justice Department was designed to operate independently, not as an extension of any president’s political will. When prosecutions are driven by vendetta rather than evidence, we erode public trust and risk turning legal institutions into partisan battlegrounds.
We must hold our leaders to the same standards they once demanded. If weaponizing justice was wrong in trump’s first term, it is wrong now. Accountability should not depend on who holds power, it should depend on principle.
