Financial stewardship
I appreciate Mark Mussina’s leadership and stewardship of public funds during the County Commissioner’s meeting on September 25. We need more of this. By challenging the assertion that there was “no price increase” on an incremental $12,346 of expense for the coroner’s building, he set the example that such change orders will be scrutinized even if they are covered by an allowance fund. Because of the Sun-Gazette’s coverage, I watched the recording of the meeting on the county website (Lyco.gov), and I would encourage others to do the same. The county will benefit from the type of close scrutiny on spending that Commissioner Mussina demonstrated. I am eager to see more coverage on this topic in the Sun-Gazette going forward.
