John Adams
In 1800, John Adams, the second President of the United States, wrote a letter to his wife on the day he moved into the White House. He wrote “I pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this House and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof.”
