The recent drawdown of DHS agents from Minneapolis is being hailed as a victory for the forces of anarchy acting relentlessly to destroy our Republic and the American Dream. Indeed, a fair number of conservatives have expressed the drawdown “feels” like a loss. But is it?

So let’s start with the proximate cause of the Minnesota mess. Under the mandate given Trump in the 2024 election, ICE was ordered to remove known criminal, illegal immigrants with existing Detainers, Arrest Warrants and Final Orders of Deportation from Minnesota, most of whom are current or recent guests of MNDOC. Frey and Walz ordered local and state law enforcement to not cooperate with ICE and, encouraged their constituents to forcibly defy Federal officers. DHS then had to put additional agents in place to perform crowd control, putting both civilians and law officers unnecessarily at risk with tragic but predictable results that were 100% preventable.

So after a bit of time allowing for negotiations with Walz and Frey, Homan announced the drawdown of 700 agents in Minneapolis because local and state law enforcement will now hold illegal immigrants with criminal records, detainers, warrants or deportation orders for ICE to pick up. This allows ICE agents to arrest and secure the criminals in the safety of Minneapolis jails and Minnesota prisons, circumventing agitators and eliminating the need for crowd control manpower.

To sum up, Walz and Frey now are cooperating with the Trump Administration on deporting criminal illegal immigrants in Minnesota, not to mention that Civilian/Federal agent confrontations don’t happen.

So, who achieved their goals and who didn’t?
