Celebrate America
Thank you, Sun-Gazette, for planning a series of articles about our wonderful country’s history. I have been enjoying reading the many special publications that are appearing in newspapers and magazines to celebrate America 250.
May I point out two musical tributes that will be happening before all those on July 4:
On the 251st Anniversary of Paul Revere’s Ride, local members of the American Guild of Organists will present a program of American music. It will include patriotic and folk songs, and a tone poem, The Battle of Trenton, which was written by a composer living during the American Revolution. The concert concludes with Stars and Stripes Forever played on the grand organ in Covenant Central Presbyterian Church. Saturday, April 18, 3 p.m.
And on Saturday, May 9, at 3, also at Covenant Central Presbyterian, the grand organ will again be fully utilized by Todd Fickley of National Presbyterian in Washington DC and trumpeter Sgt. Major Chuck Seipp. They will use stirring videos to accompany their musical Salute to America. Both concerts are free.
Please continue to let the community know of all the special offerings this year.
