Williamsport mayor Slaughter has arrogantly disrespected every single veteran from the American Revolution to the present by canceling the 4th of July celebration on this, our 250th birthday.

His weak excuse of insufficient police manpower doesn’t hold water. The festival has always been more than adequately protected by our city police with additional support from the county sheriff’s department, the county detectives and the state police.

Since the mayor hasn’t had the courtesy to explain the situation, I’m surmising that since he’s a Democrat, he’s infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome like almost all of our local Democrats and of course the ones in the State College area, that snakepit of liberals. I suspect that our local libs, whose hatred of all things Trump overrides common sense, put pressure on him to cancel the festival simply because President Trump is encouraging the nationwide celebration of our country. Thumbing his nose at the service of all the local veterans and disappointing the thousands of people who attend every year won’t go unnoticed at election time.

Prove me wrong, Mr. Mayor. Come out of your office and try to explain your actual reasons for this.
