I was pleased to see that the comprehensive study on transportation included bicycles used for basic transportation. We at Williamsport Bicycle Recycle help many people who use their bicycle for basic transportation. Many of our roads are designed to make cars feel comfortable driving at speeds that endanger cyclists. Last year one of our volunteers was killed when his bicycle was hit by a car on the hill on Market Street.

It is surprising that just a short distance away is confusion corner has few crashes. This may be because drivers know the situation is confusing and so pay closer attention. Road design that makes drivers pay attention are safer as drivers lower their speed and are more alert. I hope the study will include safe ways to get around in our city for bicyclists.
