The White House brags about having the lowest drug prices in years. This is due to Biden's Inflation Reduction Act which allowed Medicare to negotiate prices and put a cap of $2000 on drug spending .....NOT ONE Republican voted for it, but that doesn't stop them from taking credit.
Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, for which NO Democrat voted, will end the $2000 cap for seniors and stop Medicare from negotiating prices. Suddenly drug prices will rise, but not before the next election.
Republicans are also cutting $911 billion from Medicaid over ten years by work requirements and complex paperwork. Up to 15 million people may lose Medicaid. Without reimbursements, rural hospitals may close. Republicans blame immigrants; however, the vast majority of fraud was from corporations who bill patients for services not rendered or performing unnecessary services. Yet, Trump has cut funding for enforcement and pardoned executives like Lawrence Duran, who was sentenced to 50 years for a $205 million Medicare fraud. Fraud costs the government $300 billion each year, and Trump's pardons have wiped out $1.7 billion in victim repayment to enrich his donors.
Trump is making health care unaffordable. He ended the federal subsidies for the Affordable Care Act. As a result nearly 15 million Americans are without health care and another 20 million have seen their premiums double.
No wonder the Republicans are denouncing Medicare for All, calling it "socialism",
though our beloved Social Security and Medicare are types of socialism. Implementing health care for all would save the US more than $1 trillion and 114,000 lives each year according to a recent study.
