Bribery

1 min read

If I offered someone $5,000 if he voted for a Republican candidate for Congress, I would be sent to jail.

However, President Donald Trump has offered a $5,000 bribe to every adult in the United States in an attempt to get them to vote for Republican candidates for Congress, and he is getting off scot-free.

I think a ruling in 2024 by the Supreme Court, which gives presidents widespread immunity from being charged with a crime, has something to do with why the president thinks he can bribe America's voters. By the way, six conservative justices, all of whom were nominated by Republican presidents, had signed onto that ruling.

The speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, says he will try to implement Trump's bribery scheme, which will cost the taxpayers over $1 trillion. While the Supreme Court's decision placed the president above the law, the speaker of the House is not.

Behavior like this by our president and speaker of the House makes us the laughing stock of the world.
