Last night, as the Republicans met for their midterm pep rally, the man in the White House was greeted with cheers and applause when he (illegally) offered every adult citizen $5,000 IF the rubber-stamping Republicans hang onto control of the House and Senate so he can continue dismantling of the Constitution, ignoring court rulings, and usurping the Legislature's power of the purse (with their willing complicity). Isn't bribery and buying votes illegal?!
He claims he can do this because the economy is "GREAT!" So great that, by the time this letter gets printed, gas may well be $5.00 a gallon! So great that homelessness has grown as rent, let alone home ownership, is out of reach for so many hard working Americans. So great that people are going into debt just to meet their basic needs. So great that our military arsenal has been depleted by the illegal war he began with Iran while they were sitting at the peace table! So great that from July FY25 to July FY26 that federal deficit went from $291B to $434B. Even more disturbing is that our debt has grown from $29.4T at the end of July FY25 to $31.9T at the end of July FY25!
Less than two months before the elections, he is still sowing chaos, trying to change the rules with (again, illegally) redrawn Congressional maps and attacks on mail-in ballots, even though that is the way he casts his vote!
On September 17, 1796, in his Farewell Address, George Washington, warned us that the two party system is a threat to the Republic. 230 years later, having ignored his warnings, our two dysfunctional parties, both more interested in their own power than in solving the country's many serious problems, and citizens' faith in their government and institutions at an all time low, regardless of the outcome, how do we reunite these Un-United States and move forward?
