The cost of war

2 min read

It's been over six months now, but I can't stop thinking about those 130 little girls, ages 6 to 12, who were killed the first day of Trumps war, blown to pieces by a Tomahawk missile paid for by you and I.

According to economists, the war with Iran has cost almost 100 billion dollars so far in direct costs, and the indirect costs to all of us of almost another 100 billion dollars, in the form of inflation and higher fuel costs. And there are more costs to come, in the unfinished war and injuries to our fighting men and women. We have already seen the ultimate cost borne by those 18 families who lost sons and daughters killed in action. Now that the Houthis in Yemen have opened another front that will shut of another 5% of the worlds oil supply, it's difficult to see an end that does not involve our soldiers on the ground. We will be paying the full costs many years into the future.

And this was all unnecessary. Remember last July, 2025, when Trump and Hegseth told us that Iran's nuclear facilities were "obliterated"? And this past March, when they repeated yet gain that Iran's nuclear facilities and their military were "completely obliterated"? Lies, both times. Their "completely obliterated"e military was able, as we recently learned from the Secretary of the Navy, to inflict mass destruction on our naval base in Bahrain, to the point where our aircraft carrier the USS Roosevelt was unable to dock there.

In the first few weeks after our initial blitz, Pentagon intelligence testified to Congress that Iran, best case, was "several years" away from developing a nuclear weapon, and our other intelligence agencies said they had "no evidence " that Iran even had a nuclear development program in place. Additionally, we were told by both Trump and Hegseth that Iran was "days away" from testing ballistic missiles that could reach American soil. Our intelligence agencies, however, concluded that Iran was "8 to 9 years" away from an operational intercontinental missile.

There was no imminent threat. We were lied to by Trump and those at the top of our military apparatus.

Remember those little girls who died? And our dead soldiers? Killed by lies.
