Garrity for governor

3 min read

It was refreshing to see the reader's letter titled "A wicked ruler brings ruin" in a recent issue pointing out the myriad ruinous policies and costly shenanigans of Josh Shapiro. He's a real smoothy, which is how he got to be attorney general and then governor. He comes across as the type who would sell dangerous drugs to your kids and grandkids—a real "Mr. Nice Guy." He could charm the fangs right out of the mouth of a cobra. If the Pennsylvania voters don't wake up, he will smooth-talk them into letting him stay in the governor's mansion another miserable four years.

A serious problem PA voters have been having, however, is the fact that, for decades, the Republican state committee has been entirely too lax too often. They have either failed to come up with a viable candidate for governor or they've failed to adequately support the candidate when they do have a good one. The 2022 gubernatorial race was a perfect example when they slighted Doug Mastriano who was a fine candidate. They felt he was too conservative—of all things!

The PA GOP again has a superb candidate for governor in Stacy Garrity who is serving her second term as state treasurer. Even Democrats say the is doing a great job. Her office received the coveted gold rating for reducing PA 529 fees by $23 million. She quadrupled assets in PA ABLE accounts and returned over $50 million to taxpayers through Pennsylvania Money Match. She returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property and has remained scandal-free.

As vice-president of Global Tungsten and Powders Corp., she successfully lobbied congress, in 2018, to ban the US military from purchasing tungsten from China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Stacy served the US Army Reserve from 1986 to 2016 reaching the final rank of colonel. She was deployed three times to the Middle East and earned two Bronze Stars and Legion of Merit.

She is endorsed by President Trump who said, "Stacy is a true American First Patriot." She is also endorsed by Senator Dave McCormick and Republican congressional and state legislators. She is person of strong Christian faith.

Unlike most Democrats, Stacy and her running mate, Jason Richey, actually have a plan with a lineup of proposals to turn the state around. On their first day in office, they will work to unleash PA's natural gas and create thousands of jobs. Other priorities include cleaning up fraud and waste, reducing utility rates; cutting taxes, fees, and overregulation; making homeownership and life in general more affordable, and improving student achievement. The list goes on.

The Shapiro campaign is out raising that of Garrity and Richey by many millions of dollars. GOP PA committee people, where are you? As the President would say, "You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

If the good grass roots people turn out to vote on November third, we can stop the Shapiro juggernaut and land Stacy Garrity in place to turn Pennsylvania around.
