This letter is in response to "It's up to all of us" in Wednesday's paper and "Freedom or tyranny" in today's paper. Both letter writers are repeating the unsubstantiated name-calling and 'alternative facts' of their clueless leader and his mindless minions.
Let me start by saying I don't buy the 'party line' of either party. I do my best to research individual candidates to find out what they actually intend and hope to accomplish if elected. This gets harder to do as both parties spend most of their resources diverting attention from issues they have no answers to by belittling their opponents with mudslinging and name-calling while unbiased news coverage is under fire when they report uncomfortable realities.
Both authors were eager to accuse Democrats of planning to turn our republic into a communist country. Before you fall for this partisan rhetoric, ask yourself, "Who is already running this country like a dictatorship, with the compliance of a Congress and SCOTUS that look the other way as he dismantles the Constitution, rather to stand up his bullying, self-serving ways?" "Who orchestrated an invasion of another country to facilitate the kidnapping of its elected leader?" "Who invaded, without provocation, a country that was actually in active 'peace talks' on the day of the invasion?" "Who blames Ukraine for the war and berates them for defending themselves from an unprovoked invasion." "Who is breaking his own sanctions to buy fuel from Russia?" "Who insists he is a man of peace as he continues to support the genocide being overseen by another of his autocratic friends?" "Who has taken money Congress appropriated to help our neediest citizens and diverted it to pad his own pocket and the pockets of his billionaire buddies?" "Who has offered to buy your vote for $5,000.00 if his 'rubber stamps' remain in power?" By the way, did you make good use of the $5,000 he sent you when DOGE cut waste out of the government?....yeh, I never got my check, either!
It is the responsibility of informed citizens to hold our elected officials to accountable to oath they took to defend the Constitution and bring us closer to the ideals the Declaration of Independence set before us.
