Residents say no

AI has its avaricious eye on a tract of land near you. After overcoming multiple threats within just this past decade, the Montour Preserve is again facing uncertainty. Talen Energy, the owner, is asking to rezone 870 acres surrounding the preserve for industrial use. Though plans are still under wraps (through use of non disclosure agreements), many believe Talen wants to construct a sprawling, multi-building data center near land that has served as a nature preserve and a family-friendly community treasure for over 50 years. Residents from small towns across Pennsylvania are ...

The downfall of William Nichols Jr.

I recently read Clifford A. Rieders' opinion in the Sun-Gazette and in my opinion, Mr. Nichols got the best deal he could get, even though it may not seem right to some. Mr. Nichols was out-numbered and he was not going to win. He might have entertained the thought of taking “everyone” down with him which would be justified, but I assume that was not an option with “everyone”. Even if Mr. Nichols tried, he not only would have still lost but most likely he would have faced an even worse penalty and perhaps total destruction of his life. “Everyone” was not kidding. So we ...

Mamdani’s total victory

Mamdani proclaimed to the world the night of his victory that “there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about.” In other words, Mamdani intends to insert government into every aspect of every New Yorker’s life. Of course such total penetration of people’s homes and lives has a name: it’s called totalitarianism. That’s when government power totally intrudes everywhere, and personal privacy occurs totally nowhere. Communism is the nice name for the sum total of this brutal intrusion of which Mamdani is now its most famous ...

Stand up for your community

Residents of Central and Northern Pennsylvania are at risk of losing access to the first-class news and entertainment WPSU has provided them for more than 70 years. WPSU now faces a turning point. With Penn State withdrawing funding for the station, alternative sources of funding are necessary to keep this essential public service alive. Fortunately, a solution is available. WHYY has offered a bold and compassionate plan to acquire WPSU—and, crucially, to maintain it as the independent, community-driven public media service that our region deserves. It’s not a takeover; it’s a ...

Surrender or else

Although I do believe that President Trump has done many good things to bring peace to many of the warring factions around the world and, in my opinion, has and is doing good things for the USA, I rarely, if ever, am in concert with liberal views and comments. Now, I may have to boil my lips and burn these typing fingers when I say that I agree with the general liberal opinion that President Trump has presented a so-called peace plan that is nothing more than a Putin generated blue print for illegally gaining not only ground now held by Russian forces, but also for Ukraine to ...

Sacrificing their own

There is an effort being made to remove John Fetterman from the Senate via the next Primary Election because he refused to sacrifice the truly needy and follow party lines. It’s fascinating, pretty comical actually, watching “the party of inclusion” throw each other under the bus to get their own piece of government handouts. They are perfectly willing, or rather demanding, that the poor peoples’ food supply be sacrificed so that they can have their health care subsidized. They demand that working families, those working families who actually don’t get all of their federal ...
