The visit by Joe Biden to Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 30 was telling on many levels. The fact that Biden met in a gymnasium with 300 handpicked "supporters" in advance of Donald Trump's Save America Rally the following Saturday in the same city in a stadium that held thousands is telling.
Also, the fact that while the purpose of Biden's visit was to support Pennsylvania's far-left candidates Josh Shapiro and John Fetterman, Biden publicly asked listeners to elect Shapiro to the Senate and "the big old boy" -- forgetting John Fetterman's name -- as our next Governor. If he doesn't even know what offices these two are running for, how much more should we believe anything he tells us?
Next, his 2020 campaign promises belie his feigned concern for the safety of the very few police officers in attendance at the event. To wit, his prior pledges of eliminating "stop and frisk searches" and "no-knock search warrants," two tools EVERY police officer knows are necessary not only for their own safety, but for the safety of the communities they serve. He also vowed to keep budget-strapped police departments from obtaining needed surplus military equipment, and openly pledged to "redirect funding" from police departments to social services (better known by its more common name, "Defunding the Police").
But most telling, and what should be deeply concerning to every American, was the moment he screamed "I am determined to ban assault weapons in this country!" History shows us one of the primary missions of every rising fascist government is to disarm the people. Biden's allusions that "assault rifles" with a definition soon to be given and later expanded by leftist fiat, are not necessary for individuals' protection or for hunting are irrelevant.
It is time someone bring to Joe Biden's attention not only the finer points of the Second Amendment, but Article I Section 21 of our Pennsylvania Constitution which succinctly states "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned." Section 25 then reads "To guard against transgressions of the high powers which we have delegated, we declare that everything in this article is excepted out of the general powers of government and shall forever remain inviolate." In brief, our founders weren't all that concerned about hunting or even home protection. Knowing they granted great authority to our government -- particularly the Executive Branch -- they were deeply concerned of the future rise of a dictatorship, one that weaponizes its authority to control a free people -- exactly what we are seeing today, from concerned parents federally categorized as "domestic terrorists" to an unprecedented search warrant raid on the home of a former president and future presidential candidate.
Biden has pledged that "assault weapons" will be banned if the Democrats pick up two senate seats this November. Such a threat to our freedom and our democracy is chilling. To freedom-loving Americans, keep that in mind this Nov. 8.
