Canada shuts out Australia to advance at LLWS

Vancouver, British Columbia is alive for at least one more game at this year’s Little League World Series after recoridng a 4-0 win against Sydney, Australia in an elimination game at Volunteer Stadium.

Canada led just 1-0 through five innings before gaining separation with a three-run sixth inning. Pitching wise, Canada limited Australia to just two singles.

Canada’s Felix Hoyano and Kiah Sandhu combined on the mound as Hoyano threw 5 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts before being pulled at 70 pitches. Sandhu recorded the final out in his one-third inning of work.

Sandhu recorded a double at the plate by going 1 for 3 while Sha Hassko went 2 for 3 with a home run and drove in three of the team’s four runs while scoring a run himself.

Jason Mezzarobba went 1 for 2, Cruz Krpan went 1 for 3 wtih two runs, Hoyano was 1 for 3 with a run scored, Jacob Massel went 1 for 2, Lucas Izen was 1 for 1 and Jean Ramos went 1 for 2.

Australia’s two hits came from the bats of Daniel Warwick (1 for 2) and Edin Becirevic (1 for 2).
