Curacao edges South Korea in tight game 1-0 at LLWS

Sometimes one run is all you need and that aws the case for Willemstad, Curacao on Sunday afternoon at Volunteer Stadium.

Giendry Ryan took off from third and stole home to give Curacao a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and from there, the defense and pitching id the well. Curacao held Seoul, South Korea scoreless en route to a tight 1-0 win to advance and send South Korea to the losers' bracket.

Ryan's run was the game's only run. Giendry reached with a double with one out before advancing to third base on a wild pitch before he eventually scored.

South Korea did well limiting Curacao's action as the Pariba Little Leaguers were held to just two hits, a double by Ryan and a double by Didien Ignacio Lindo as both players went 1 for 2 at the plate.

South Korea was held to three hits by Ji Hwan Hong (1 for 2, double), Ju Won Kim (1 for 1) and Seo Jun Park (1 for 1).

Juriensly De Windt went four innings on the mound for Curacao and struck out five while Ryan relieved him and struck out six in two innings of work.

With the loss, South Korea plays again on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in an elimination game. The win advances Curacao to Wednesday's winners' bracket game against the Latin America Regional champions from Leon, Nicaragua.
